Our newest menu is a bit of an odd one. It’s a busy couple of weeks (a baby shower, Valentine’s Day, several families coming over) which calls for some creative planning, and I’m also trying out some recipes from Mary Ostyn’s Family Feasts for $75 a Week, which she graciously offered for review. So while meal planning more exciting this go round (I love new recipes!) keeping within budget was definitely a little trickier.

The concept of feeding this brood for $75 a week is tempting… I wonder if a family of 10 is really what she had in mind, though, especially with teenaged boys.
Checking out the link because I need all the ideas I can get…
There’s much more than recipes in the book; the opening chapters give her shopping tips, etc. According to them, yes, her idea is that she feeds her entire family on that budget. Still reading and gleaning … I’ll get back to you on how I think it works!
Heather, do you mind sharing how you make your yogurt? Do you have a tried & true recipe or method? I tried to make some in the crockpot & it was a dismal failure.
I tried the crockpot method and failed as well. My husband bought me a yogurt maker on zulily and we use that with zero issues. It’s this one. Zulily had it for 60% off!
Thank you for mentioning the yogurt maker, I had no idea they even existed! I’m definitely thinking of getting one!
