You never know where the small flame of passion God has lit in your heart will lead.
Maybe to a friend’s side as she pushes her sixth baby into the world.
Maybe to a classroom on a college campus when you’re still a high school student.
Maybe to a school on the other side of the country.
Maybe to the middle of nowhere, in the dead of night, in a pair of scrubs and the converse you don’t mind getting splashed with who knows what.
Or maybe to an airport, before the break of dawn, with 50 lbs. of textbooks and fake pelvises and dilation charts destined for a rural birth center stowed in a trunk and checked through to Kathmandu, Nepal.
Yes, you never know what kind of fire that flame will become. All you can do is follow the scent of the smoke, and keep asking God for more opportunities to feed the blaze.
