I love Easter. I also love decorating seasonally on the cheap. Hence my collection of Ikea Virserum frames. At $4.99 each, I can have my winter/spring/summer/fall cake and eat it, too.

But what to put in aforementioned frames? Sometimes it’s as simple as a photo of a birthday child or a scene from seasons past. Often it’s a piece of Scripture that I’m trying to memorize, set against a backdrop of snowflakes or pumpkins. And at other times, it’s just quotes that strike me and make me smile as I go about my day to day.

  1. Thanks, Heather. These Easter illustrations are wonderful! You are so creative. I am inspired by how you bring meaning of the season into every day life.

My dad liked to post visual reminders for us kids to focus on. Usually it was a scripture verse or clever phrase, quickly lettered with magic marker in his bold block script, hung on the brick wall by the fireplace in the kitchen. Dad was a wise and Godly man. Many of these reminders of the important things in life guide my thoughts and actions to this day. In fact…just this week I had the occasion to share one of my favorite Dad-phrases with my own kids…..”Not to decide, is to decide!” As a child I got so much joy turning this phrase around in my head. Makes me smile as I remember when it clicked and I understood it for the first time.

Thanks for sharing your inspirations. 🙂

  2. Lovely 🙂 — good to help the kids keep the real meaning of Easter in mind as the commercialization of Easter is ever more pressing on the little ones.
