This menu is epic. Be warned.
We’ve been in the middle of so many “not the usual” events (family visits, opportunities to host friends, parties, etc.) that things here have been anything but routine. As a result, I’ve been making scatter-shot weekly menus, trying to pull from what we have in our pantry. Christopher has been shopping at a more local (but more expensive) store. And we’re all out of sorts.
So when it came time to shop (and menu plan) again, Christopher and I both knew that it was time to get things back on track. The hard part? Ummmmm … it’s World Cup time. And my man does not miss a game unless in the event of severe emergency. Grocery shopping is not a severe emergency; therefore, it had to be sandwiched in. And since he was going anyhow, why not make it for a loooong time? Get the most bang for our buck, in other words? Go ahead and laugh, but it’s only every four years. How many guys do you know who stop their lives for the length of the football season? See. Not bad at all.
In honor of the Cup, I usually pull together some recipes from around the globe. You’ll see this reflected in the menu, as well as on my Eating the World Cup pinterest board. Apfelkuchen is a must-have at Cup time here, but this year we’re also trying out a Portugese soup, as well as Nigerian meat pies. Yum! I’d love to hear from you if you get adventurous and try anything new this month. Oh, and … GO, GERMANY!

I haven’t made morning glory muffins in ages and they sounds really good right now. I’ll have to add them to our next menu. 🙂
It was in my early days of blogging that you inspired me with your meal planning system. It was so inspiring that I blogged about it. 🙂 (That was nearly five years ago). I have to get back on track and do something about the lack of inspiration around here. It really is getting to me this flying by the seat of my pants method…yessirree it is!! Maybe today I will make a plan. Have a lovely weekend! Camille
