It should have been a yes. It should have been a yes, and right now, I should be finding a way to finance a celebratory dinner at Pizza Hut (her request) for eleven elated family members about to embark together on a new and thrilling adventure.

Not yes

But it was not a yes.

Babita’s student visa was denied. We don’t have any reason for the denial, and the U.S. Embassy is not required to issue us one. Contrary to what many people believe, it is the American side of things that has refused her entrance to the country; it is not the Nepal government refusing to let her leave. People would like details (Can she reapply? Can she appeal? Is there anything we can do?) and right now, we are regrouping and truly unable to say much more until we speak to the folks at Crown College, who have dealt with these issues before.

We are reeling, we are hurt, but we remain in the arms of Christ, resting in the hope that He has given us. This story is not over. It can’t be over.

We have nine children. Nine. Not eight. And someday–please Lord, soon– we will all be together, in one place.

  1. My heart is breaking for you! Prayers and hugs there is a solution and it is speedy!

  2. I awakened from a dream early this morning. In my dream (all I can remember is a photo-like moment) your children had decorated three paper plates. One said, “Redeemed,” one said, “Babita,” and one said, “Time.” These were attached to three vases filled with sand, rocks, and flowers. I woke up praying for your precious family. (((HUGS)))

  3. Praying, Heather. I saw the post from Abba House as we were driving yesterday, and my heart broke in two for all of you. 🙁
