Two days from now, this guy graduates.

Saturday

He finishes his homeschooling career with a 4.23 GPA, a scholarship package to his top pick college that means only his books will come out of pocket, and a long list of of accolades, achievements and commendations.

But you know what he’s really accomplished over the course of the past 12 years? He’s learned to rely on Jesus. He’s developed self-control. Discipline. Kindness. The value of hard work. The importance of being above reproach, of heeding the wisdom of Proverbs, of running the race set before him.

He’s developed character, begun to understand who he was created to be, and is ready to pick up the thread the Lord has placed in front of him to follow it into his future.

I’m delighted to see him fly. Will I cry? Oh, you bet. But the closing of this door is most certainly the opening of another. God has great plans for Mathaus, and I’m honored to set him free to find them.
