These are websites, books, videos, and other resources that correlate with CC Cycle 2, week 6 New Grammar. A few quick disclaimers: I have used every resource that I list, but I may not have used it as intended. (For example, you’ll see a note under the Latin heading about a file folder game I printed and slipped into a page protector for reuse as a printable each week.) Also, I am very comfortable editing books that I read to my children on the fly. If you are concerned about the level or content of a book or resource, please peruse in advance. HISTORY
A short, animated video on Leonardo DaVinci that is good for all ages.
This Leonardo da Vinci Aerial Screw (helicopter) kit is perfect for Journeymen (with help) and Masters. You may find other such kits, especially at craft stores. (The catapult was a favorite of my older kids!)
A FREE Leonardo da Vinci unit study based on Jean Fritz’s Leonardo’s Horse.
A site based on the TimeWarp Trio books that explores Leonardo da Divinci.
From the same YouTubers, this video on Michaelangelo is a great introduction as well!
These Michaelangelo art projects take creative learning to the next level. We’ll be attempting the moving Sisting Chapel this go round, but in the past, the fresco painting has been so much fun!
A FREE Michaelangelo unit study based on Michaelangelo’s Surprise by Tony Parillo.
This video covers the Globe Theatre and Shakespeare’s influence on the world.
Build your own paper Globe Theatre! This is best for Journeymen and Masters as a solo project; otherwise, I’d plan on doing the bulk of the cutting yourself as it is fiddly, to say the least. Still, the end project is cool enough to warrant the extra time.
Some beautiful Shakespeare notebooking pages based on his most famous plays. A great way to guide students through your first readings of these works.
A lightly sassy biography of Shakespeare that older kids will really enjoy.
A short video on Copernicus!
A highly detailed paper craft of a moving Copernican system. Definitely not for younger students without lots of hands on help.
A FREE Renaissance lapbook.
