These are websites, books, videos, and other resources that correlate with CC Cycle 2, week 22 New Grammar. A few quick disclaimers: I have used every resource that I list, but I may not have used it as intended. (For example, you’ll see a note under the Latin heading about a file folder game I printed and slipped into a page protector for reuse as a printable each week.) Also, I am very comfortable editing books that I read to my children on the fly. If you are concerned about the level or content of a book or resource, please peruse in advance. SCIENCE
An experiment on light for slighter older learners (Journeymen & up).
Color mixing and light refraction. Great for all ages!
A lesson (and experiments) on light that explain why the sky is blue, and what a rainbow is.
Using a magnifying glass to explore light. Obviously, caution is needed, but even young kids will enjoy this.
Light patterns with CDS. Also a neat art project!
Bending light! This experiment has a link to the book Hatchet, but can be performed without having read it!
HISTORY
Radio Free Europe has a short video on the fall of communism.
The United States Office of the Historian (yes, it’s a real department!) has an article on the fall of communism, as well as links to rabbit trails like the breakup of Yugoslavia and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Thought Co. has a concise article that would be a solid resource for a presentation.
Ducksters has a biography page for Mikhail Gorbachev.
A Lego lesson on communism that will make a big impact.
The BBC has some “bite sized” lessons on the fall of communism.

Turtle Diary has a ton of games for practice in identifying conjunctions.
MATH
A video on the commutative property of addition, and one of the commutative property of multiplication.
A pretty goofy video that does a great job explaining tis concept for younger kids.
A hands-on activity using popsicle sticks (written for multiplication bu able to be used for addition as well) that shows the commutative property very well.
Using unifix cubes and dominoes to illustrate the commutative property.
A scripted lesson on teaching this concept to children.

LATIN

Half A Hundred Acre Wood has a printable to help keep all those tenses straight!
Family Style Schooling has this extensive set of Latin worksheets designed to help kids get ready to Challenge A! I’m using them as a precursor to the Henle Prep workbooks recommended by a good friend who is already navigating the Challenge years.
I love Half-A-Hundred Acre Woods Latin Match-up Game. I actually use it in page protectors in my kids’ binders, and have them write in the answers. (She also has a Latin Alphabet coloring book my younger kids get a kick out of.)
Latinata.com has some basic games for review.
