He’s an inch taller than his dad, and not done growing yet.
Oh, my.
By virtue of being the oldest boy, Mathaus has been our test case for a lot of living. Not only in our learn-as-we-go parenting, but in what we, as Momma and Dad, can reasonably expect. Do all boys eat like this? Do all boys grow like this? Are all boys as complicated/introverted/witty?
Mathaus has set the bar high. And while the line of brothers that follow him are each as individual as he is, still … it will be a new world to parent a teenager who doesn’t live in his writing, or escape to compose music for hours, or delight in the nuances of programming languages. Or, even, outgrow pants before they get a few good washings in.
Fourteen years ago today, we met this young man. And we’re still celebrating. Happy birthday, Mathaus.
I can say all the same things about my son, turning 16 in August! Happy Birthday Mathaus!!
Hey now! He’s only taller because I wear my hair shorter!
