We officially ended the 2014-2015 school year on June 9. That date was a feat unto itself, really– two international moves, people. Two. And we still finished school on June 9? We are homeschool rockstars. (Joking! Joking!)

There was a collective sigh of relief that last day, as we all felt the book shut on a year that educated each one of us in ways we neither saw nor imagined. And then … summer!

But, oh … summer.

Summer in North Carolina is a completely different beast than summer in Washington. Temperatures in the upper 90s, humidity hovering in the same general area, and bugs. Call us soft, but this is not the summer we envisioned.

And so, like the good homeschoolers we are, we did the thing that came most natural to us.

We started school.

Meet the student body of 2015-2016. And yes, that’s a single happy little splash of pink amongst all that testosterone. And yes, she’s excited to be “official” this year.

Our plan is to resume year-round schooling. The climate here simply isn’t conducive to much exploring or outdoor fun in the months of traditional break. We’ve been year-round schoolers before, using a three months on, one off schedule. That would put our break in November this year. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it will be 99 every day in November.

Hopefully.
