I need the weeks leading up to Christmas. I’m not talking about the tinsel and the trees and the endless parade of gift exchanges. I’m talking about Advent: the season in which we believers step back and hold our breath, waiting for the fulfillment of a promise spoken painfully close to the words, “In the beginning.”
The season in which we wait upon Jesus.
I need the lead-up to Christmas. I need to remember the longing for salvation. I need to remember those who ached for His arrival. I need to make room in my life to focus on Him.
Maybe you need Advent, too. Or maybe you just want to dig deeper into the season with your family, preparing for Christmas not only by baking cookies and hanging stockings (all fun stuff!) but also by memorizing Scripture, uncovering the character of those in the Gospel telling, understanding the historical significance of aspects God wove into the birth of His Son. Maybe you want to make Advent more…
More meaningful.
More purposeful.
More memorable.
More fun.
If so, please consider purchasing the Advent study I wrote to accomplish just those things. Pulled from years of material I produced for my own family’s celebration, Experiencing Advent is designed to be flexible. Use it with Daddy around the breakfast table before he leaves for work. Set aside time during homeschooling to devote to the study. Make it part of your family Bible study. Use it in a way that best fits your family right now, in this season of life.
This isn’t a craft-heavy unit study that leaves your older kids drumming the table, waiting to be set loose. Neither is it a purely academic exercise that flies right over the heads of your littles. Activities are included, but optional. And the learning? While it’s not light stuff, it’s designed to be accessible to young ones while still offering plenty of room for the kind of rabbit trails that allow for real ownership of the knowledge.
Experiencing Advent offers:
- More than 50 pages of study.
- A look at the historical period into which Jesus was born.
- Scripture memorization for younger and older children.
- An introduction to the symbols of the season.
- The history behind some of the season’s most God-honoring caroles.
- Bible scavenger hunts.
- Plans for Saturday Advent celebrations.
- Craft, recipe, and activity options.
- Four full weeks of lessons planned by day.
- Open-and-go learning.
We’re offering this study in an ebook format for just $8.99. Start your journey towards a more meaningful season today. Prepare your heart for Jesus, and experience Advent!
Pinned. Looks like a lovely resource.
I actually agree, I was fretting the other day how I would get everything done. I need to sit and just prepare my heart for this season.
Oh, Heather, it’s perfect! I just downloaded my copy and sent it to the local print shop (only because our printer just ran out of ink). I can’t wait to pick it up and use it with the other Ws this year. I’ll be spreading the word about it just as soon as I’m actually holding it in my hands. 🙂
I am so glad! I hope it blesses you as your family goes about blessing others this Advent. (I love the way you guys love others so well!)
This looks like a great resource and a great way to get the whole family involved for the “Real reason for the season”!
Just bought it, can’t wait to see it! It looks like it went through with Paypal; do I now wait for an email with the file? Or how does it work? 🙂
(Nevermind to my previous comment, I see now where it says that you’ll receive the file within 24 hours.)
Looking forward to trying this! I love to do something with the kids during Advent. We’ve done Truth in the Tinsel and loved it, although some of the crafts were just a bit silly. Looking forward to trying this this year!
Do you have any sample pages available?
Very timely post. I have just been thinking about Advent and what to do “for” during it… I think you summed it up when you said I am looking to make my advent “more.” Since I don’t have children I am not sure this is the best resource for me personally, but I will have to share it. I am thinking of doing an Advent resources round-up, and if so I definitely will be linking up to you!
Just received this study. I am so happy with it, it is exactly what I was looking for. Very manageable, on-point, and fun. Thanks!
