Photos can make life look so beautiful, so serene. You get just a few silent, carefully angled images that gloss over the reality happening just outside the lens.
Which is what makes these so misleading:
What you can’t hear on this one beautiful, sunny afternoon are the hacking coughs of multiple family members— myself included. I’ve been wrestling with illness for three weeks now, and finally succumbed to pneumonia. Two other kids are on antibiotics, and I’m suspecting that another will follow here shortly. We’re a mess, I tell you. Thankfully, it’s Christmas break and all hands are fully available to be on deck, filling in the gaps and keeping the ship afloat.
In other words, be glad that photos aren’t able to convey contagion. Otherwise, well… you might get to share in more than the Christmas cheer going on around here.
