The warm weather finally arrived in more than day-long jaunts, meaning that summer feels as if it’s come fully.
And with it, projects.

Lots of projects.
Between locating a suddenly-missing house stone (what, you only see the snake in the photo above?) to pressure washing anything that will stand still, changing over the school books for the new year to painting some small pieces here and there …

General vehicle maintenance and major repairs (on both cars and trucks and our much-needed riding mower)…

Sanding and refinishing the 10 foot-long picnic table to ensure that it holds up for years and years of use…

And fun of course. Lots of that.
We still have a long to-do list staring us down— projects big and small. (Anyone want to volunteer to wire our newly built dry goods pantry?) But we’re in the season where they can be done, so we’re tackling them as we can. As the garden allows, I should say. Because lo, the weeds are with us always.
Every day is busy. Every day is full.
But it’s summer. There’s the creek. Dozens of books to be read. Blueberries ripening in the orchard. Long evenings under our pole barn-turned-gazebo with a cool drink in one hand, a breeze blowing, and the kids and dog squealing happily in the fields. Those things balance out the burden of the work, and make the satisfaction of a job well done even sweeter.
What’s better than that?
