Lord, You know what 2020 has been like for many (most?) of us. There have been plot twists galore, and unrest, and plans that have evaporated right before our eyes.
You know.
You were there.
And now, You’re here. On the precipice of the next thing, still speaking peace over us, still pouring out Your Holy Spirit, still girding us for the work ahead.
Help us feel it, Father.
Help us walk with boldness into this season ahead. Help us to remember Your promises, to look for Your provision, and to cling to the fact that nothing escapes the eye of the One who created the stars. Help us to shake off fear while still exercising the wisdom You have given us. No matter what this looks like, no matter how familiar or foreign, Lord God… grant us the ability to see Your hand in what we are undertaking.
Lord, You are sovereign. You are mighty. You are our shelter. Help us to rest in that, and not in a safety net of our own making. Remind us gently of Your power, Lord, and speak to us daily of Your mercy and grace. In the days ahead, there will be doubts and bad moods and flesh that does not easily surrender. Call our eyes back to You and Your purposes. Kindle in us a desire to plant seeds that may not grow fruit for years, and the fortitude to continue on in those labors whatever our circumstances.
You know what the year will look like, Lord. You have numbered our days. Give us mouths that praise You when the sun shines and when the rain falls. Let us point our children back to You no matter what our homeschool looks like this year. Bless us with a hunger for You and Your Word, and let that hunger be an example to our children and anyone else watching that any good they see in us is only You.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
