Yesterday I hinted at something big that had happened in October without giving the details. Today I tell all.

Well, as much as I feel comfortable telling. See, once upon a time I could share all kinds of details about the lives of my older children without feeling that I was overstepping. All of that changed once their teen years were upon us. And by the time they hit adulthood, well… it’s just not fair to have your mother spilling all the intimate ins and outs of your life on a blog.

So I edit quite a bit when it comes to the daily doings of my older children. You probably notice that while they will rate a mention from time to time, they’re guest stars here, not main characters. Except for today.

Today, one of them gets center stage.

Mary Hannah is engaged.

Much to our delight, the young man who has been dating our beloved MH for the past year proposed last week. They are a perfect match. Both of them love the outdoors, they share a mutual passion for music, and they’re both committed to following the Lord. They’ve been purposeful in getting to know one another’s families, and I can tell when Mary Hannah talks about her future in-laws that she already loves them as much as we love our future son-in-law.

We’re excited to add a wedding to the roster for 2022. I know it will be as beautiful as these two— not a flashy, trendy show for the applause of others, but a real, simple declaration of a lifelong commitment.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?” Ecclesiastes 4:9
